HEYO
It's good to be back, I hope you all haven't missed me too much.
This week was NUTS. One of the busiest and most stressful weeks of my mission, but I learned and grew a ton. I'll give some highlights.
So first, we had a "Mission Tour" with two elders from the Quorum of the Seventy! We got to meet with Elder Whiting and Elder Villanueva, they were awesome. It was all over Zoom and Elder Willis and I were in charge of getting the broadcast all set up for the three zones that were meeting in our chapel. Technology is great, but it can be really frustrating sometimes hahah. But yeah, we learned a lot of really cool stuff and it's made a big difference in the way we teach.
We also had to do a lot of writing this week. We were asked to speak in sacrament, so we had to write our talks. I talked about the Book of Mormon. I think it turned out pretty good. It's in Spanish, but I'll add it so you can read if you're interested. We also were asked to help with a video about the first vision and I had to write the script for it. I'll keep you all updated when it gets released, it's going to be sweet.
Elder Willis and I are now the Zone Leaders of the newly created "Santa Ana West Zone." It's a zone with only Spanish missionaries and I am so excited for it. I am stoked to do everything in Spanish, that's one of the things I really miss about Ecuador. But yeah, we've been figuring all of that out with our Stake President and Mission President, it's been crazy.
The Peña's are doing just swimmingly. They're all really excited for their baptism this Sunday, and we are too. We also got a referral from some other Elders for a guy named Jose. He is so cool. We went over and taught him about the Book of Mormon and he was really intrigued and excited to read it. When we invited him to read it and pray about it, he just said, "Well I have you as my witnesses that this Book is true, and I trust you. I'm going to do it." He's right, THE BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE AND I'M A WITNESS OF IT! So cool.
I was reading a talk this week from President Kimball and he said something that really stood out to me. He said, "Motherhood is near to Divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels." I think I really liked this because I have best Mom in the world and being on the mission has made me so much more grateful for her. Give your Mom's a hug this week.
Alrighty then, that's all I got this week. I sure do love being a missionary, it's the best. Share your testimony with someone today.
Love and miss you all!
Elder Spangler
